I am Adam (using the pen name of adenoz), and welcome to my blog 👋

• I got this domain name, which is nice and short, so I'll use it.

This is a place where I write about mostly technical data-related explorations and learnings 🚧

At work, I get little say in what I work on or what tools I use. Outside of work, I can do whatever I want. And that excites me.

• and I can use whatever tools and platforms I want, and use whatever processes I want.
• and structure my writing however I want, like using unordered lists to make my writing more skimmable.
• and use emojis which is definately not a done thing in my line of work 🚫

This blog is an outlet that provides me a medium to capture my various personal projects, document things for my future self and allow me to build my own knowledge over time - and have some good clean informal nerdy fun along the way.

I'm building, modifying and maintaining this blog (using Zola), which in and of itself is fun, as I rarely play around with web hosting related stuff.

I love open source tools, and also aim to highlight those tools I find most useful and spark the most joy.

Who am I?

I am a combination of things.

• I am an Australian (🇦🇺) data professional, straddling data analyst, analytics engineer, data engineer and gust into data science from time to time.
• I am a consultant, skilled and experienced in straddling technical and business domains and have had some successes in joining these two sometimes disparate tribes into more of a single team.
• The main business domain I am comfortable in spans areas from geopolitical risk, strategy, situational awareness and global events 🌐

It is this coming together of the business domain and technical solutions that excites me most. How can we use data to solve real-world problems?

Exploring how data can be utilised to gain advantage is something I'm passionate about 🧩

I'll be exploring some of these areas via this blog, and a whole lot of other less serious stuff too.
